Plainclothes Medicures by DokiDokiTsuna Plainclothes Medicures by DokiDokiTsuna
I've learned my lesson: next time, I'll just ink the drawing. I hate using pens on pencil lines; they always stop and mess up, I lose half my flair, it's not fun at all. But if I had done it, at least I'd've had solid lines to work with and this wouldn't've taken me 2.5 hours. XD

Anyway, here are all the girls' usual outfits. So, as always, the essential question is: what's weird here? Answer: they don't match their Cure colors! >u<

I've always thought it was SO boring to have a character wear the same color scheme ALL the time, and most of the recent Cures do exactly that. Their Cure color will always feature prominently on their outfit. Come on, Toei, mix it up a little!
Of course, these were much more difficult to come up with...a good portion of that 2.5 hours was spent trying to get Petra's outfit to make some kind of sense. >~< But I think I managed to make the clothes match each of the girls' senses of style.

NOT their personalities. Their senses of style. Because those two things are not the same. If I dressed according to my personality, I'd probably be some scary mixture of "1950's detective" and "Sith lord" (although I admit, that does sound fun to wear~).

Could you describe it to me? I feel like I might know what you're talking about.

It's called the Ghost tool on photoshop it turns all white into a transparent layer. You have to download it in a package but it's free.

I thought so...I already do that another way on Paint.NET, but it's still really time-consuming IMO. I select all the white on the image and delete it from the layer.

The problem is that my pencil lines are so pale that half of them disappear with the white. And if I lower the tolerance (or darken all the lines) I end up with all the half-erased garbage and extra-sketchy lines, and then I have to spend my time erasing those.

So I can either go over my sketch with pen and have solid, dark lines that I can use the fill tool in (like I'm supposed to), or I can be lazy and not do it, keep the tolerance up, sacrifice most of the pencil lines, and draw in all the base colors myself with the paintbrush (what I actually did). Which is really what most PS artists do anyway, but I'd rather just use the fill tool because it's WAY faster.

Ahhh I see. Yeah the ghost tool on photoshop is exceedingly helpful because it'll get everything, so you don't wind up with odd lines. Haha fill tool. Usually what I do is click the area with my magic wand tool, expand the selection and bam there's my filled layer. Fast and efficient.

Oh yeah, that works too...but the way I shade makes that technique less than useful in the end. I already ranted about that, though: dokidokitsuna.deviantart.com/a…

These all look great! ^W^
And I agree, it's better to go by a character's own sense of style instead of their personality for their outfits. That would make them predictable <:3
