Tryna be like all the other kids

Description

So, while I was watching a playthrough of Kirby: Planet Robobot (which is FANTASTIC, by the way) I got lots of ideas for Leviathan Claw, which is also a story about huge robots and death and sadness~.
Its plot is coming together; I've already written 2.5 books worth of material, and if I do a story outline it should be ready to debut soon. However, I'm not yet sure how I'm going to color it.

This was me, making my first genuine attempt at coloring with anti-aliasing, like most people do. It makes the lines look all smooth and cute, instead of rugged and pixellated like my usual work. It does look nice, and it's not that hard, but...

...It makes shading a nightmare. I can't just draw shadow outlines and fill 'em in, because then I have to fix all the blurry garbage lines that result when the tolerance is too low (and if I raise it, I end up filling in all the neighboring colors...).
I can't use the Recolor tool, because when anti-aliasing is enabled it wants to recolor EVERYTHING, even at a tolerance as low as 14%! And if I pull the tolerance TOO low, I end up with even more blurry garbage lines to fix.

Basically, I have to be really careful and use really small brush sizes to do anything right. And after spending 20 minutes doing that and only getting THIS much shading done, I decided that it isn't worth the time it takes. For me, doing full-color comics takes too long as it is. I need a coloring style with speed, speed, speed! Speaking of which, I'm late for a RUSH page...
